A note for parents. Typically, we have a parent meeting to discuss the season. Unfortunately, we have not had one, so I hope to reach the masses here.
We have a full yet unusual schedule for 2022. We have three games followed by a long break and then our final 4. We have many new players on the team, so this year we are rebuilding. We aim to teach, develop, and promote a solid product for the players and families with five coaches. The girl’s program is light on numbers, and we need all of them to commit to the monthly tournaments, and there are 5.
Registering for USA Rugby to compete has to be done. They can’t play without a CIPP number issued by USA Rugby.
Dues for the season cover the cost of practice fields and lights, game fields and lights, game day activities, and referees. In addition, they cover administrative costs for our nonprofit. Dues also pay for banquet costs, awards, and anything associated with our year-end celebration for the players and parents.
Last season we had a company for the players’ uniforms. This year we are not going through them and will do the uniform ordering ourselves, saving families money.
Players get everything they need for the season which includes a tracksuit (top and bottom) for colder weather practice rugby jersey, shorts and socks, logo rugby ball, a t-shirt for training (which they already have been given), and a gym bag to carry everything, which we call kit in the rugby world.
Players MUST have this kit to practice, as we are fostering an environment of team and uniformity.
We try to keep costs to a minimum. Coaches and board do not get paid, we are all volunteers, so any money brought in goes to the players and the program.
USA Rugby’s registration and the uniforms need to be paid for. However, rock Rugby can assist if a player is financially strapped, usually by other parents volunteering to fund a player.
To receive financial assistance, contact Jennifer Regalado, and she can provide you with the necessary form to fill out. The board reviews the need and then votes on aid.
Players are required to attend practices, this is a contact sport, and they need to understand the game, learn laws, and, more importantly, how to play the game safely. And with 15 different positions on the field of play, each separate and distinct, our coaches have to formulate a system and strategy that is essential for them to compete safely.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
