Marcos is a latecomer to rugby, having just completed his second season, but he has the ideal background – from 8th Grade to 11th Grade he played football as a linebacker. “I started (playing Rugby) when I wanted to get better at football my sophomore year,” he says. But something happened along the way – he is now a senior and still playing. In fact, he opted out of his Varsity football year to focus solely on Rugby.

Marcos is one of the real warriors of the Rock team. He plays in the back row, and can play both open and blindside flanker. He also plays in the back row for the AG Outlaws – the Austin Gilgronis MLR academy team.

In 7s, he plays hooker for the Rock Rugby academy team. He played for the U16s in the NIA 7’s in Los Angeles in 2020, and for the U18s in Salt Lake City in 2021.

In his two years in rugby, Marcos has won two end-of-season awards – Most Improved Player in 2020, and Forward of the Year in 2021.

One of his favorite aspects of rugby is the team bonding, and he enjoys hanging out with his teammates on and off the field. “They’re just good guys” he says. “They like to have fun off the field, but they’re still going to be out there the next morning working out and doing sprint drills and getting better at rugby”.

Marcos is currently looking for a college to call home in the fall of 2022. After college, he would like to become an Army Ranger and someday a firefighter.

When not playing rugby, he enjoys fishing, practicing his guitar, and the great outdoors. His favorite band is Korn and Tool.
