Six Rock Players Head to Tropical 7s

Rock Rugby Academy fields four teams at this weekend’s Tropical 7s in Tampa, Florida, including teams in the U18 elite boys and girls divisions. Representing Rock Rugby in the U18 boys elite division are Mason Gracian, Marcos Gonzalez and Gavin Richards while Arowyn Files, Areanna Ference and Ava Hebrandson feature in the girls elite U18 side.

Rock Team to Play Four Points

There’s a familiar look to the pack, but a back injury to vice captain Gavin Richards forces a shuffle in the backline, Mathew Bruce moving to flyhalf and Brewer Dillon-Sauer taking over at fullback. On the wings, Ayden Dush and Ian Sadler drop to the bench, their places being taken by Jacob Reyes and Lloyd Alba.

Rock Fall to Westlake 20-10

On a bitterly cold night in Round Rock, Rock fell short against a useful Westlake team. Trailing 15-0 at halftime, the Rock team learned you can’t give a good side that kind of headstart and expect to win. Despite outscoring their opponents 10-5 in the second half, and pressing all the way to the final whistle, it wasn’t enough.

Rock Team for Home Opener against Westlake

Rock Rugby make one change to the side that defeated Plano last Saturday for this Friday’s game against Westlake. An injury to Jacob Reyes means Kadin Dyess – who scored the winning try last Saturday – comes in at scrum half, Matthew Bruce moves to fullback and Ian Sadler shuffles across to his more customary position on the wing.

Rock Outlast Plano in League Opener

The Rock boys traveled up to Plano Saturday to take on Plano Rugby in their 2022 Texas D1 opener and came away with a hard fought 24-19 bonus point win. Mason Gracian, Jackson Bennett, Marcos Gonzalez and Kadin Dyess scored the tries with Gavin Richards adding 2 conversions.
